"Sports Direct Ibrox Stadium"

Recommended Posts

Ashley is no Geordie, he's from the leafy Home Counties, Buckinghamshire I think. His Newcastle love is a recent affectation. I've no idea if he's a prick, he might be.

Aye I know. I usually put "fake geordie prick". In my haste, I forgot. Sorry. The Joey barton interview about Ashley is an interesting watch, about when he got jailed, and ashley tried to shaft him.

Is that not perhaps a little different since the stadium was brand new?

My point is, if you're saying you don't mind if the money is spent well why not wait and see?

I'd rather it wasn't done at all, no matter what they are pretending to pay us. Some things make us what we are. The stadiums name is one of them.

I dont see what difference a new stadium makes? The rights are worth what theyre worth due to exposure to media etc.

All about opinions. Simply playing at Ibrox is what I feel makes us what we are, not the name, and I know one of my biggest fears about needing to go new company route was that we wouldn't be able to afford it anymore.

Lol, 35k+ season book holders for div 3, 20 new investors, no debt, and you were afraid that we couldn't afford it anymore?

All this extra fundraising is for the benefit of the shareholders, not the team. We proved that in the last transfer window. We moaned to have the ban lifted, then signed one player for under a million. Then got pumped by Caley and QotS. Green is a genius to not have fans kicking his door in. We've been conned. Our team is unacceptable for the money we have ploughed in. It's no good having millions in the bank, if we keep getting pumped.

that annoyed me. i dont think we are getting value for money. a 7 million pound wage bill and we cant even win the challenge cup or compete with inverness.

I clearly meant in the early days of the whole process, only an idiot wouldn't see that.

We signed 8 players, just because there isn't a transfer fee involved doesn't mean there isn't plenty spent on wages, agent fees, signing on fees etc. We got more than enough to win this league with ease and that's all that mattered, we couldn't break the bank on the off chance of winning cups, I mean we got knocked out of both straight away last season with a top flight squad. You could perhaps make an argument for Inverness (average age of their squad was still younger than ours I believe) but you really believe QOTS was because of the quality of players? A part time second division team at home and you blame Green rather than the management and players? The Ramsdens Cup was ours to lose and the team lost it, not the board.

I generally struggle to get my head around any Rangers fan decrying that we didn't spend enough in Scotland's bottom tier a few months after financial ruin but oh well. I guess it's like a wife moaning at her husband for not spending enough on her birthday present just after he's emerged from bankruptcy.

But it was one transfer window, the next two we're heavily handicapped. So again I might suggest you actually give it a chance over couple or years or so down the line before coming these conclusions, but I highly doubt you will.
