Gers fans defy Green Tannadice ticket plea

Recommended Posts

How does it do that? How do they know what channel you watched? The only people that count there are the one's that have the special box to monitor what they watch.

There is also a lot of simplicity here, Dundee Utd have stated time and again that they don't like us, don't want us and don't need us - why would you want to pay them to step into their stadium after that? That's a massive difference to walking into your own livingroom - or stadium.

For every Rangers ticket sold, they will be gleeful and rubbing it in our faces - why give your enemies that pleasure?

Watching the game on tv means that you have in some way contributed to a sky subscription. You pay Sky, they then pay football teams for the privilege to film live football. Thousands of bears watching the game will give it high viewing figures, therefore encouraging Sky to renew any Scottish football contracts, thus filling the pockets of all our "enemies". If you're going to boycott this match for some sort of moral reason, at least have the courage of your convictions.

Whether you like it or not, watching the game on tv contributes to DU's finances. In the present, and the future.

You do read before you post, do you? The Sky (et al) money is being paid whether you watch their or any other game or not, be that Scottish Cup, SPL, EPL, or Kazakhstan's second division. How Sky distributes its wealth is utterly up to them and has hardly anything to do with our boycott of SPL grounds. Sky's got a deal with the SPL and whether the Rangers supporters cancel their subscriptions, watch or do not watch their games on a TV set at home or in a pub does not change that payment any single bit.

If you want to be a boycott purist you can switch off any sort of media for the day and feel good about it. But just don't come up with any hypocricy rubbish when people want to see the game or their team. Boycotting SPL grounds was what was called for and is what will happen. Hit them where it hurts ... and tv income will not be part of that. At least not from watching or not watching half a handful of games.

CUP TIE STATEMENT

RANGERS wish to confirm that other than players and support staff, the Club will have minimal presence only at the Scottish Cup fifth-round tie against Dundee United at Tannadice on Saturday, February 2.

Board members who attend will do so in order to comply with any official obligations.

The Club would like to remind supporters of the decision not to accept tickets for Tannadice and believe our fans, even those who take pride in following the Club to every match, understand our position.

RFC

Short and well put. The hacks will again be all over it.
