Lee Wallace tells SPL stars they'll love life with Rangers in lower leagues

THE former Hearts star stayed with Rangers when other players departed, and says he doesn't regret his decision for a second.

LEE WALLACE has told Rangersâ?? potential SPL transfer targets they wonâ??t regret a switch to Ibrox and plying their trade in Scotlandâ??s lower leagues.

The former Hearts full-back was one of the few stars who agreed to stay with the club in the Third Division.

Wallace has loved life in the SFL and would urge anyone to be part of their resurgence back to the top flight.

Manager Ally McCoist has been linked with moves for Ryan McGowan of Hearts, Motherwellâ??s Jamie Murphy and St Johnstone ace Murray Davidson â?? who are all free to sign pre-contracts in January before Rangers can register them in September.

Wallace and fellow SPL exiles Ian Black, Dean Shiels and David Templeton have spoken about the challenge of helping Rangers earn three straight promotions. And the 25-year-old would urge anyone who has the opportunity to play at Ibrox to grab it.

He starred alongside McGowan at Tynecastle and hopes the Aussie joins an Ibrox colony of former Jambos that also includes Black, Templeton and striker Kevin Kyle.

The full-back said: â??I would urge any SPL player to take the chance.

We won't take it easy if we wrap up title early, vows Rangers star Lee Wallace

â??I made my decision to stay and guys such as David and Ian also made a decision to come here from the SPL. None of us has looked back.

â??Iâ??ve loved every minute in the Third Division, playing in new surroundings, going to these different places and really having to roll the sleeves up.

â??Itâ??s a totally different part of the game but itâ??s what football is all about. And I know that one day this club will be back where we belong.

â??Iâ??m not sure about the situation with Ryan at Hearts. But he broke into the first team during my period at Tynecastle and has done well.

â??The manager has asked me about him, in the same way that he did with Ian and big Kevin. He was looking for info and I always gave good reports.

â??I played with these guys at Hearts and theyâ??re great professionals. Iâ??m delighted theyâ??re part of our Rangers team now.â?

Another Tynecastle old boy who is fast becoming a fansâ?? favourite at Ibrox is winger Templeton.

After seeing him hit another wonder goal against Clyde, McCoist said the 23-year-old could go on to become one of the clubâ??s great entertainers.

And having seen him as a kid at Tynecastle, Wallace isnâ??t surprised at the impact Templeton has made since his £700,000 summer switch.

He said: â??David has the ability to do anything. Heâ??s sharp, quick, direct, has great feet and is a flair player.

â??Itâ??s brilliant to have David in our team because it makes my job easier. I can just give him the ball because I know what heâ??s going to produce.

â??I have a good relationship with him because we had a couple of years together at Hearts. I watched him come through the system and he has grown from there. David was a young player who had come from Stenhousemuir and he was immense.

â??When I first saw him, the boys were talking of how he would play in the first team within six months.

â??David was at the top of his game for Hearts last season and I knew if we got hold of him at Rangers he would be a massive player for us.â?

Templetonâ??s goal against the Bully Wee is already a Goal of the Season contender and Wallace expects more of the same from the wide man as Rangers charge towards the Third Division title.

McCoistâ??s men are now 12 points clear at the top and Wallace believes Templeton will be a key man between now and the end of the campaign.

He said: â??You can see the impact he has made since coming back from injury. When he came off that day at Annan we all feared the worst and he was out for two months.

â??But heâ??s now back and David will be massive for us. Once guys like him and young Barrie McKay get at opponents they can cause absolute chaos.â?
