Union Bears statement

Recommended Posts

I find this whole insident a bloody disgrace. We are at home, we have the BF1 as our noise makers. They are tehre to do that. The Police know it, and Rangers know it.

Why is it that in our own ground we are being Policed out of supporting our team.

Yes there are some of the knuckle dragging fraternity in there, but as has been said we are football fans.

Why, at Ibrox, are the majority of Police antagonising the Rangers support? Why are they going in heavy handed into our own fans at a game where the away fans are no more than 200.

"One member was arrested for banging a drum next to a police horse "

How daft was that? He was lucky he didn't get his head hoofed in.

What's the point of a drum at football. Leave it at home and cheer the team instead.

What's your problem with a drum?? IMO there should be MORE drums.

Monotonous - bang bang bang bang.

Trouble is, very few remember the days before chanting when there was a constant hubbub of noise rising into thunderous cheering and fallling again then more great roars of encouragement. No long periods of glum silence. The game was more exciting in those days. That might explain it.

Union bears statement

We regret to announce that tomorrow's planned march to Hampden Stadium has been cancelled due to threats of arrest emanating from Strathclyde Police.

We've been advised late this afternoon that if we go ahead with the planned 15 minute walk to the ground then anyone suspected of organising the march will be arrested and charged.

In light of recent intimidation, harassment, brutality and a number of trivial charges coming from the aforementioned force we've made the decision not to put our members and fellow fans in the position where they may be easily arrested.

Our group exists to provide vocal and visual support to the players and management of our football club. If we continue to allow members to be arrested and banned for trivial matters such as walking to the stadium in a show of unity with the wider support we'll no longer be in a position to do so.

With that in mind, we call on all like-minded fans to join us in the West Stand tomorrow to help roar the lads on to yet another victory in the original Glasgow Derby.

No Surrender

Well done Union Bears, good move. Better to accede to these intimidating threats of arrest rather than break the law. As a matter of interest, what law would you be breaking - unlawful assembly without a permit, perhaps?

How about being a bluenose going to the game ?

I smell shite from the UB. A statement released to gain sympathy from the fans. Disgusting!

You can't be arrested for organising a march unless its relatin to the Terrorism Act, as far as I know.

The usual suspect on here is believing this drivel as well and getting his knickers in a wee twist.
