Temps in line for gers comeback

Recommended Posts

RANGERS hope to have winger David Templeton back for the Scottish Cup clash with Elgin.

The 23-year-old has been out of action since injuring an ankle against Annan Athletic in September.

Manager Ally McCoist expects the former Hearts player to return to training and be included in his squad for Sundayâ??s game against their Third Division rivals at Ibrox.

McCoist said: â??David has been a big miss. He scored two goals for us but after the first five minutes against Annan we havenâ??t seen him in the team since.

â??Itâ??s been frustrating, especially for David.

â??Hopefully he can join in training at the end of the week and I would be hopeful he could be involved at the weekend, although I donâ??t want to put pressure on him.â?

There was frustration over the postponement of last weekendâ??s league clash at Elgin but it has at least given McCoist time to get captain Lee McCulloch and striker Andy Little fit again.

He said: â??Andy is fine now. Heâ??s feeling a lot better and been training. Hopefully he can be ready for the game.

â??Lee would have played at Elgin but the extra few days did him no harm in terms of overall fitness.

â??He chipped in with a couple of penalties at East Stirling. Lee works hard at them but heâ??s a scoring threat whether it is from a set-play or if heâ??s playing up front.â?

Rangers still have injury problems, with Sebastien Faure, Ross Perry, Fraser Aird and Emilson Cribari all out.

McCoist added: â??Faure, Perry and Emilson are coming along but the centre backs are still a bit longer-term.

â??Weâ??ve had a tough time with injuries. Aird has a fractured thumb and he wonâ??t be able to do anything for two or three weeks.â?
