Champions League re-format to 64 teams?

Platini and his corrupt cronnies giving it some thought.

This would have been on the agenda years ago to globalise the game. First get rid of the Cup winners cup and bring in more teams to the CL to de-value the UEFA cup which includes CL drop outs....then scrap the latter and have a massive Euro comp.

The Euro game was ruined by the fat money cats bringing in more CL clubs. Even just 10 years ago a UEFA cup run was something to look forward to and one the big clubs went for. You'd get likes of Inter v Chelsea which was massive, but now I dont even recall who are the Europa Cup holders!!!

I dislike the idea personally. I feel they will add another 3 CL places to the likes of England, Spain, Italy and Germany. CL winners finished 7th in their league, could happen and would be lunacy. Seems like its either to cut money by doing this.

UEFA Cup holders are Atletico Madrid who have Falcao.

The Europa cup is so de-valued until the final they have to do something. It should be a reduction of CL teams and put some higher profile teams back in the Europa. More knock out games need to be played....and the Cup winners cup could be brought back. This will make matches far more interesting.

But the money makers will never go for that, pound in the pocket before the interests of the game.
