Now it's war, craig

Recommended Posts

THE SFA was last night plunged into a legal war with Craig Levein after the axed Scotland manager carried out his threat to sue them.

The 48-year-old revealed last week he was considering taking action after being placed on â??gardening leaveâ??.

Now, his legal team have officially challenged the SFAâ??s stance in the hope of receiving a one-off cash settlement.

As things stand, Levein will be paid around £35,000 a month for the remaining 20 months of his contract.

However, if he accepted a new job that would stop.

Levein is demanding full payment up front to ensure a clean break and has started the legal fight to get his way.

On arrival in Luxembourg with the national team for tonightâ??s friendly, SFA chief executive Stewart Regan expressed disappointment that there was a lingering dispute with the man he worked so closely with over two years.

ì

We have now had a letter setting out how he intends to manage the process. Weâ??ve handed that over to our legal advisors and as far as the process is concerned, it is with lawyers

Regan said: â??We have now had a letter setting out how he intends to manage the process. Weâ??ve handed that over to our legal advisors and as far as the process is concerned, it is with lawyers.

â??Craig doesnâ??t feel able to carry on with the contract in place.

â??He wants to leave and pursue legal action as opposed to just being paid on a monthly basis.

â??The contract has not been terminated and we will continue to honour the contract that remains.

â??Itâ??s fair to say the board discussed the implications and consequences of the action we chose to take.

â??I am disappointed with the process, insofar as we have ended up where we are.

â??I had a great relationship with Craig. He was an ultimate professional in terms of how he had gone about preparing and managing the development of the squad.

â??He brought in some great players but unfortunately he didnâ??t get the results.

â??I am disappointed we find ourselves in this position.â?

The SFA have not yet formally started the process of finding a new manager, but have already been snowed under with expressions of interest in the post.

Regan, Rod Petrie, Campbell Ogilvie and Alan McRae â?? all members of the SFA board â?? will discuss the matter today in Luxembourg and then make recommendations to the full board on their return to Glasgow.

Regan added: â??Myself, the president and two vice-presidents will be discussing the situation while we are over here.

â??Weâ??ll put our thoughts together in terms of the type of manager we are looking for, the process we want to go through and the timescales we want to work to.â?

Im not a qualified lawyer but what did it state in his contract? If sacked he remains paid until the end of contract on monthly basis or gets paid all upfront.

One doughball v a group of doughballs.

We is Regan also still in a job? He isnt fit and proper and shouldnt be allowed to name the next Scotland boss.
