RANGERS legend Sandy Jardine claims the Ibrox outfit have achieved more in their history than rivals Celtic.

The Ibrox club yesterday unveiled plans to mark their 140th anniversary when they face Stirling Albion on December 8.

The celebrations were put back a few months after Rangers went into administration.

But Jardine insists with the club now on the road to recovery itâ??s time to celebrate their history with the supporters who have backed the Light Blues during their recent financial troubles.

And Jardine believes the silverware Rangers have amassed overshadows the achievements of Old Firm rivals Celtic, who celebrated their 125th anniversary on Tuesday.

Jardine said: â??Itâ??s about surviving and celebrating a fantastic history.

â??I noticed Celtic are celebrating 125 years and they are a fantastic club but maybe Iâ??m biased â?? they donâ??t come anywhere near what weâ??ve done in 140 years when you look back through our history.

We can celebrate the club is now back and itâ??s on itâ??s way to getting back on its feet

â??So itâ??s only right we should recognise our history and celebrate it.

â??We can celebrate the club is now back and itâ??s on itâ??s way to getting back on its feet.

â??Itâ??s important that we do celebrate our 140 years because six months ago we might not have had a club.

â??We have come through a difficult period and we have a long way to go. But we have started on a journey of rebuilding and hopefully the club can get back on its feet and back to where we were as the leading force in Scottish

football.

â??What we want to get across is that we are the same club â?? with the same strips, the same stadium and the same ethos.

â??We want to give something back to the fans because one of the biggest things to come out of all this has been their support.

â??They have been nothing but fantastic. Iâ??m on the Fighting Fund too, and the money they have given up has been amazing.

â??Every game is a sell-out, and as long as the fans stay with us we will get back on our feet. Everyone at the club is amazed at the passion and support they have given to us, and this is a thank-you to them.

â??We will get a lot of ex-players back for the day and there will be a half-time parade to celebrate our 140 years.â?

Former Rangers ace Charlie Miller was at Ibrox yesterday and believes Ally McCoistâ??s crop of youngsters will take their place alongside the 1972 Cup-Winnersâ?? Cup legends and nine-in-a-row heroes if they guide the club from the

Third Division to the SPL title.

Miller said: â??The 1972 Cup-Winnersâ?? Cup team and nine-in-a-row guys will go down in folklore, 100 per cent.

â??If you are a young boy at Rangers now, you must be able to grasp this with both hands.

â??Itâ??s a great chance for the youngsters to become a Rangers hero and make their name.â?

Celtic, who celebrated their 125th anniversary on Tuesday.

This has been niggling me for a while.....

Celtic were officially founded in 1888, they then celebrated their Centenary in 1988. Now, I know my maths may not be the best, but does 2012 - 1888 = 124???

I also saw an advert in the paper which showed their badge with 1888-2013 on it.

I trust that Celtic do realise that its still only 2012.....

As for Rangers celebrating their 140 years.....hopefully they will be shouting it from the rooftops. From what I've read, there seems to be some good plans in the pipeline!!!

Think about it they have a celebration about their history a year early, in the same year they are telling us we have lost ours. Dig, dig
