Ally in track suit

If Ally had the team playing great foorball and his team were full of desire to win games then I could live with this new dress code, but after watching the game last night I would prefer him to get back to the suit. At least he would look the part. :rfc:

Why is preferring a Rangers manager to look smart in a suit or similar Victorian?

He prefers to wear a track suit. Surely in this day and age an adult can make up his own mind what he wants to wear. If I thought for a minute him wearing a Blazer would help the team then I would agree with you. It won't and in fact a tracksuit may well do as it may give the players the feeling he is a part of the team.

Are you free to wear whatever clothes you want to your work or are you in the old pin stripe and bowler?

Didn't work last night unless he's trying to keep the we are all lost together team spirit going, and yes a lot of work places have a dress code and Rangers should as well.

Surely a track suit is part of a football dress code after all the club sell them.

As much as I would like to see the Rangers manager wear the Rangers suit etc., if we are playing well and making progress it doesn't bother me. What does feekin bother me is that fact that we don't wear red and black socks. The red and white ones are bad enough but now we are wearing blue and white? WTF

There's a standard of clothes that are acceptable in most work situations, and in some non-work situations. It wouldn't be acceptable to turn up in a string vest and ripped jeans in my office. My dress code may change depending on whether I was just in the office or meeting someone externally, but in answer to your question, no, I am not free to wear whatever clothes I want.

It's all about standards. I expect the Rangers directors to sit in the directors box with a suit and not a t-shirt and jeans, no matter how much they may want to.

Is Ally's current choice acceptable? Yes. However I personally don't think it looks good and would much prefer him as Rangers manager, a position that should hold great respect, to be a standard setter and not just wear whatever is the least he can get away with.

As for the "tracksuit makes the players feel he is part of the team" argument, I just don't agree with that for 2 reasons:

1. He is still an inexperienced manager who should be trying to establish his authority and one way to do that is through dressing like it.

2. He can do that the rest of the week behind closed doors. On a match day, he is representing a great institution in public and he should dress like it.
