Scottish Premier League to discuss voting structure change

Recommended Posts

Scottland Premier League clubs will next week consider a proposal to change the league's voting structure.

An 11-1 majority is required for major changes, such as re-distribution of wealth, and some clubs want all votes to be decided by a 9-3 majority.

However, BBC Scotland understands up to three clubs will vote against the proposal, stopping any major changes.

Should the motion be defeated, ongoing discussions over league reconstruction could be halted as a result.

Those in favour of change are keen to achieve a 75% majority system before next month's vote on re-distribution of wealth and further talks over Scotland's league set-up.

Delayed payment of player wages at Hearts will be the first item on the agenda at Monday's meeting.

What is really depressing is that the same people who spent the summer screaming relentlessly about us will just let this slide.

It's quite hard to believe that two SPL sides could be so stupid as this. Apparently, the thinking is that they can make more money by coming second in the SPL under the current financial distribution rules than they would under a new structure. Like Allan, I am assuming the two clubs who have agreed to do Lawwell's bidding are Dundee Utd and Hibs...neither of whom you would put much money on finishing regularly in second place. Even from a Mr Spock, purely logical position, only one of them can finish second, so defending this set up can be nothing better than a 50-50 gamble.

I thought we were run badly, as well.

However, we ought to be happy that rank self interest stands brilliant lit as the motive force behind the SPL (as it was for us when we were in it). You can bury 'sporting integrity' under a vast pile of bullshit now!

So what 3 can't see past the end of their noses?

Celtic (obviously), Dundee HIVS (Celtic's new partner in crime), & the original HIVS.

Aye,I think it's these two as well. DUTD drew at home to the SHEEP today and HIVS got beat by Ross County, hardly challenging material!
