Ibrox seating redevelopment

Recommended Posts

Haven't noticed him over the past few games, but I'm fairly sure he was there earlier in the season. However there's been a bit of change in the seating arrangements for the directors. It used to be that they would all sit up on either of the back rows but now they seem to sit all over the place. The FD tends to sit near the front, for example. I'll keep an eye out for Malcolm at the next game.

Do the directors of the visitors have a particular section?

The only way new seats would be good is if it created a bit more knee room but in turn that reduces capacity.

What surprised me about St James Park was how it only held 52000 when the stands are practically touching the clouds but the leg room in the top tier is a lot you can comfortably have your feet a good bit in front of you compared to sitting in the brace position at some parts of Ibrox.

If they're spending money on any sort of section redevelopment, it should be a safe standing section.

Absolutely, we discussed this before Zappa and I quite fancied your suggestions. Anyway, picture Ibrox's seats to be all blue with a thick white line that's outlined by a red line on either side on each stand. That would look handsome wouldn't it. If this is the time to spend money on it is certainly another question.

Time to spend money - that depends. We've taken in a load of ticket money, and spent very little on the players and now have a year transfer embargo (but should have a good enough squad to do the job). If the seats NEED replacing in some sections, then now could be a good time to do it. How much is a new seat when you buy in bulk? You should just need the seat itself, not the metal work for support. However, multiplying by 50k will always bring up a large number.

IF it was affordable I'd do half the seats with padded ones and leave the other half but put in hand-rails in front of them for safe standing.

Don't know what you can do about leg room - the terraces the seats are on are already built and that would be too expensive to change.

I would assume the club won't just buy new seats for the look of it. We've certainly made some good money with ticket sales but if seats will be replaced, I'm sure it is due to technical/ safety reasons, not just to give Ibrox a new coating.
