Recommended Posts

RANGERS legend Willie Henderson told last night of his heartache after his daughter lost her battle with cancer.

Michelle Henderson, 28 â?? whoâ??d fought the disease for two years â?? died surrounded by her family in Broxburn, West Lothian, yesterday morning.

And devoted Willie, 68, and his devastated wife Veronica revealed their courageous daughter will â??forever live on in our heartsâ?.

They said: â??Our beloved daughter passed away after a long and difficult battle with cancer.

â??She fought very bravely and did as much as she could to heighten awareness of the illness she faced. A bright light in our lives went out today but Michelle will live on forever in our hearts.â?

Michelle, a journalism graduate at Edinburghâ??s Napier Uni, was diagnosed with cervical cancer a week after her 26th birthday.

She went on to campaign for testing to be carried out annually instead of every three years.

Michelle had said: â??Iâ??m convinced my life would not be at risk if tests were carried out every year.

Star winger Henderson played for the Ibrox club from 1960 to 1972, winning two league titles and four Scottish Cups.

Last night Gers ambassador Sandy Jardine â?? a former team-mate â?? said: â??Out thoughts are with Willie and his family.â?
