Hearts face UEFA disciplinary action over Anfield 'pitch invasion'

Heart of Midlothian face disciplinary action from UEFA after fans invaded the pitch during their Europa League play-off round game at Liverpool.

David Templeton's goal at Anfield on August 30 sparked wild celebrations in the away end, with a small number of supporters spilling out onto the playing surface.

Hearts' goal levelled the tie on aggregate, before a strike from Luis Suarez put the SPL side out of the competition.

A statement from the governing body read: "UEFA has opened disciplinary proceedings against Heart of Midlothian FC for â??field invasions by supportersâ? at last month's UEFA Europa League play-off second-leg match between Liverpool FC and the Scottish club.

"The case will be heard by the UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body on Thursday, September 20."

Dundee United, who also participated in the Europa League this term, were fined â?¬17,000 by UEFA after crowd trouble at their match with Dinamo Moscow in early August.

HEARTS have been fined £4,000 by UEFA after several supporters spilled onto the pitch to celebrate David Templeton’s memorable goal at Liverpool last month.

The Control and Disciplinary Body met in Nyon on Thursday and decided Hearts should be punished for their fans’ behaviour during the the Europa League play-off clash at Anfield on August 30.

Templeton – now at Rangers – triggered euphoric scenes when he levelled the tie, above, in the 85th minute with a strike in front of 3,000 travelling supporters.

But UEFA observers took a dim view of the small number of supporters that ran onto the pitch to celebrate.

Hearts have three days to notify UEFA of any intention to appeal the penalty.

A UEFA spokesperson said: “Heart of Midlothian FC have been fined ¤5,000 by the UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body for ‘pitch invasion by supporters’ at last month’s UEFA Europa League play-off second-leg match.”

BTW, it could be the same for our fhriends from beyond the Clyde, especially when they are playing in Europe. That is: feed them the same medicine that they fed us with. They've been done for it already, do not comply to UEFA rules (and the Terrorist Act 2006 and that new law) and if shown up again, the Scottish press have - as with us - something to hide behind when aiming flak at the clubs for "sectarian" or "bigotted" behaviour. Not that I exactly care what the Scottish press does, but I do look after the Hooped Horrors getting fined or punished ...

One just have to complain.
