On this day (25th) 1964 Rangers completed a unique 'Treble Treble Treble' when they defeated Dundee 3-1 in the Scottish Cup Final.

Firstly, the victory brought a clean sweep of Scotland's major honours of League Championship, League Cup and Scottish Cup. 'The Treble'

Secondly, it was the third year in succession we lifted that Cup, having already won it in '62 & '63. A 'Treble'

And thirdly it also set a record no other club have ever managed - 3 cup wins in succession for a third time in Scottish Cup history having previously achieved this remarkable feat in '34 '35 & '36 and again in '48 '49 & '50. A 'Treble'

Incidentally only three other clubs have won the Scottish Cup in 3 successive years:

Queens Park (2) - 1874/75/76 and 1880/81/82

Vale of Leven - 1877/78/79

Aberdeen - 1982/83/84

Footnote: Only 2 players played in every single game of that 1963-64 season, keeper Billy Ritchie and the 21 years old John Greig. 12 years after that historic cup win John Greig captained Rangers, (astonishingly he was the only player in the squad to play every single game that season) to their 3rd 'Treble' - No other club to this day have won three Trebles.

2 years later Big John aged 35 got his own personal record when he won 'The Treble' yet again for a third time in his incredible career, a record we can safely say will never ever be broken by any individual anywhere in the four corners of world football.

Since then Rangers have won three more 'Trebles' in '93 '00 & '03, bringing their total to a stupendous 7.

Seven seriously good Rangers teams over the course of 143 years.
