Steve1872 4 Posted October 12, 2012 Share Posted October 12, 2012 In the early 60s, when Jim Baxter was completing his obligatory National Service with the Army, he missed quite a few games for Rangers because the Army refused to release him. He even missed out on Rangers’ famous tour of Russia in 1962 due to this. Still, the Army benefited as they played him alongside other professional players who had to do their stint in the services.
