Carlos Bocanegra's Spanish move on brink of falling through

Recommended Posts

wasn't their talk of him going to the USA recently? after 27th of July I think.

Not sure how genuine it was, but it's possible that they've got some weird rule amongst their plethora of weird rules that would allow him to sign outwith their transfer window because they've got a thing called the "Roster" and the freeze date for that isn't until the 15th of this month.

AMSTERDAM – The agent for US captain Carlos Bocanegra reports that his client's temporarily delayed move from Rangers to Racing Santander gained league clearance on Friday evening.

The defender's loan deal had been on hold since last Friday's transfer deadline day, when he completed the arrangement near the witching hour. Scottish media speculation raised the possibility that Bocanegra could be returned to Rangers due to Santander being tardy in registration with the Segunda División office, but it has now been determined that all necessary paperwork had been filed before the transfer buzzer.

"Carlos has gained clearance for the loan move to Racing Santander," Bocanegra's agent, Lyle Yorks, told MLSsoccer.com. "He will be available for selection when he returns [from US duty]."

Bocanegra, who is preparing for Friday's CONCACAF World Cup qualifier in Jamaica, will get his first chance to suit up for Racing when Recreativo Huelva pay a visit on Sept. 15. Winless in three thus far this season, the Highlanders will travel to Huesca on Sunday.

The one from last season, yes.

The one from the start of this campaign, no.

Has looked very disinterested. No big loss given the league we are in. Still a very classy guy though and one I am happy to have seen play for Rangers.

To be fair, he's been partnered with Cribari - a useless excuse as a footballer.

Boca wouldn't have returned to Rangers anyway because of some 'visa/registration' issue in GB - if the Spain thing hadn't worked out for him then his only option was a return to the USA pronto, never back to Ibrox - Red tape stuff.

He was a 'goner' from late August.
