Green checks out Chinese market

Recommended Posts

Good news. We should always be looking to expand our brand particularly in Asia, North America and Australasia. The Rangers story, particularly us climbing the divisions has struck a cord with many people and who knows we may get a few extra foreign Bears and Bearettes backing the team.
Actually a female bear is known as a sow and a male bear is a boar!

Actually, I'm pretty sure that you are wrong. Sow and boar come from a different sort of animal ...

sow (n.)

O.E. sugu, su "female of the swine," from P.Gmc. *sugo (cf. O.S., O.H.G. su, Ger. Sau, Du. zeug, O.N. syr), from PIE root *su- (cf. Skt. sukarah "wild boar, swine;" Avestan hu "wild boar;" Gk. hys "swine;" L. sus "swine," swinus "pertaining to swine;" O.C.S. svinija "swine;" Lett. sivens "young pig;" Welsh hucc, Ir. suig "swine; O.Ir. socc "snout, plowshare"), possibly imitative of pig noise, a notion reinforced by the fact that Skt. sukharah means "maker of (the sound) 'su.' " Related to swine. As a term of abuse for a woman, attested from c.1500.

A Bearette would be a "she-bear", if anything.

This is a bit of a strange one. From square one it's been out there in the open that CG's consortium, including Green himself, had connections to the far east. Sponsors and investors have been expected, but the only named consortium member from that corner of the globe so far is a player in the hospitality industry.

The recent Olympic Games served as a reminder that China has no shortage of world class athletes, but as Green pointed out via the mysterious Chinese billionaire anecdote, they don't boast the wealth of footballing talent their populous merits.

It's certainly an untapped resource. The Tims will probably be quick to point out otherwise, but Green appears to be suggesting we do more than assume the best they have to offer is the current national team captain.

Actually DB your wrong a female bear is called a Sow, sorry mate.

And a group of Bears is called a Sleuth so we should be called The Rangers Sleuth.

No the other subject anything that gets our name out into the world is good news.
