Zappa 0
With Kirk Broadfoot and Carlos Bocanegra both leaving in the past week we're now left without any obvious cover for the left back position should Lee Wallace get an injury or suspended, so I'm wondering what Ally will do to plan for that eventuality? Will he turn to our reserves or Auchenhowie youth teams and look to give one of the young lads a chance as a 1st team left back? If so, which one of the young left backs might he go for?
Gazza_8 233
Darren Cole could fill in there of required.
Zappa 0
Darren Cole could fill in there of required. He plays RB and CB though, so why would Ally chose him as cover for left back instead of one of the club's young left backs?
simplythebest 0
Is there not a left back in the reserves called Matthew Clarke?
Gazza_8 233
Because a right back can play left back. It's one of the easier positional switches a player can make. He could do a job on a temporary basis while Wallace sees out his suspension or injury. Remember it's Div 3 so I'm confident Cole could do a decent job.
Zappa 0
Is there not a left back in the reserves called Matthew Clarke? There's an 18 year old named Matty Clarke who's a Northern Ireland youth internationalist. He didn't turn 18 till March this year, so was playing for our U17s last season. According to his profile on Elfideldo's blog he alternated between left-back and left midfield last season.

I see your point Gav and it might be a good shout, but not every right back is comfortable switching to the left, so it'll really depend on whether Darren Cole is comfortable doing so.
