Man City playing 3 at the back

A side that conceded 29 in 38 games with a flat back 4 has looked absolutely atrocious at the back playing a back 3. 3 at the back ruined Barca's flow last season too. They weren't the same and when they switched back to their usual formation they lacked the same organisation and strength.

 

There is a reason why very few teams play 3 at the back - it's an atrocious tactic on the whole and is only used successfully by very few teams.

 

Generally it's only used by managers out of ideas (McLeish, McCoist...) or managers trying to be radical (Guardiola, Mancini...)

 

Here's hoping Ally sticks to 4 at the back. He has a big enough struggle with management without using a formation destined to fail.
