a wee positive from Berwick

Recommended Posts

Wouldn't have bothered me, I'm not fussy about tactics. So who plays left midfield as part of the middle 5, then, MacLeod?

He would have to do for now because again Ally seems incapable of signing a LM who can get up and down the wing, in fact we've struggled with that position for years, it seems to be where you play if your just in the team or did something wrong in training.

I can't see three at the back and MacLeod on the left giving us any more than we got yesterday. Berwick's right back, a big lad who must have thought all his Christmases had come at once, ended up looking like Dani Alves as he got up and down the flank with minimal difficulty. At least El Greco (must learn his name) stopped him delivering anything much once he got to our area, though that might have been more to do with lack of ability as anything else.

Long story short, I think 3-5-2 with those players would have been just as bad if not worse - it would only have offered Berwick more space up the right than they already got. No way to prove it, of course. But considering how easily they got behind our lines with a back four, every chance a back three would have been even worse.

Your probably right Andy it makes no difference what formation you play if you dont work hard and play for each other.

Aluko did a decent job at LM last season....

Boca.....

Firstly he's naturally a left peg. Secondly, he has played LB on many occasions in the past @ various clubs & country.

Perry & Cribari @ CB, with Argy @ RB

Somebody mentioned Boca has a tight hammy though, so forcing him to do more of the running, and turning, may have left him worsened by injury - or indeed given their RB an even easier time.

Fully fit that would be the natural choice. Sadly, Ally would likely have still played the formation he did.

However, to counter that, would you REALLY play 2 CB's beside each other who have only just met in the last week, from 2 different countries, who probably dont even have a communal language ? Though I do get your point of playing Perry & Cribari @ CB wigh Argy @ RB. That would have made most sense, IF Boca was fully fit.

I'm hoping that this Argentinian lad Celeste who we've been looking at on trial can provide us with some width and pace if we sign him, but I'm not entirely sure what his preferred position is.

Or the defensive qualities for defending, Frankie. We may have thin resources but Perry is below an acceptable standard if yesterday is what he can do.

Though it's fast becoming a cliche of Scottish football to say that there's more to Black's game than tough tackling, I've yet to see what it is.

He only started full training last week, or perhaps the week before, after a spell out. Another one I'd reserve judgement on. Any time he played last season I thought he did well.

Zappa, are you agreeing to stewarty's post in full ?

Because if you are then you are agreeing that we should give Perry time as he isnt fully fit.... whilst on the other thread you are saying we should have dropped Boca as he isnt fully fit.... I am sure you see the bipolar nature of those 2 posts
