Special well done to 16 yr old @ClaireAdamsXO making her first team competitive debut. Thought she was excellent. Showing age doesn't matter

Hard fought win against a well organised @Farmington_FC team. Delighted how players pulled together with 10 players for most of the match

All at the girls & womens section want to wish Mark & David the very best of luck on their appointments at @RangersFC today.

Ladies Take On City

RANGERS face arguably their toughest test of the season so far when they travel to the Excelsior Stadium this weekend to take on league leaders Glasgow City.

City currently sit top of the SWPL table with Hibs hot on their trail in second via goal difference. Both teams are thus far unbeaten in the Premier League.

Rangers are out in third, a cool seven points behind the leaders on 28 points.

On a sidenote, England snatched a dramatic 1-0 win over Germany in the place 3 play-off game at the World Cup in Edmonton last night. Sone Aluko's sister Eniola was playing for much of the second half in there, really impressive shift at that.

First time England won "a medal" at a World Cup since 1966.

Sadly, the Ladies were outdone by a late rally from Spartans ...

A mix from the Ladies and Spartans' twitter accounts: https://twitter.com/RFC_Ladies & https://twitter.com/spartansfcwomen

CK14-ZhWoAAG4jb.jpg

90 seconds on the clock and @RFC_Ladies take the lead. Harrison fails to hold a free-kick & it's turned home by No.10. 1-0 #SWPL

Goal: Chelsie Watson took the free kick which was spilled by the visiting keeper and Lisa Swanson slotted the ball home to make it 1-0.

Rangers benefitting from a breeze behind their backs in the 1st half. @Rach13Harrison looks sharp to turn a dangerous attempt round the post

Free-kick for Spartans just outside the home box after the Gers keeper deliberately handles it. No ticket given by the whistler. 1-0

Free-kick is lifted over the wall by @sarahewens19 but it's easily covered by the Rangers keeper. 1-0 #SWPL

It's another fine save by @Rach13Harrison, this time preventing @kateyturner96 from doubling @RFC_Ladies lead. 1-0 #SWPL

30'- GOAL! Katey Turner makes it 2-0 to Rangers.

30 mins gone and this time Turner does beat Harrison, capitalising on a defensive lapse. 0-2 Rangers. #SWPL

A low drive from @carlajacksonxo across the 3G, now fairly greasy as the rain falls in Govan, is pushed away for a corner by Halbert. 2-0

35 mins: GOAL! A wee dink over the Rangers defence by Mason falls to Ronaigh Douglas who nips ball over keeper to slide home. 2-1 #SWPL

Oooft! A long free-kick by @marshy9 is lofted into the Rangers box but it's just a fraction too high for @sarahewens19. 2-1 #SWPL

43'- Turner finds herself through on goal but fires her shot wide

HT: Rangers 2-1 Spartans

You can tell it's @SWPL time as its raining! We're back underway here at Benburb, Rangers leading 2-1 #SWPL

49 mins: GOAL! @Rach13Harrison clearance is headed on by Douglas & @sarahewens19 unleashes an unstoppable drive. 2-2 #SWPL #GameOn

52 mins: GOAL! It's a seven minute double from @sarahewens19 after @kreill21 splits the Rangers defence with a great pass. 2-3 #SWPL

A delay in play here at @RFC_Ladies keeper Halbert receives lengthy treatment. In fact, that's her game over. Jordyn Elliot takes over. 2-3

65 mins: GOAL! A mazy run by @carlajacksonxo into the box, she's upended. @sarahewens19 steps up & sends Elliot the wrong way. 2-4 #SWPL

Two great saves by @Rach13Harrison in quick succession deny Sarah Robertson on both occasions as @RFC_Ladies look for a way back. 2-4 #SWPL

78 mins: Spartans substitution: @ellehciMRussell replacing Ronaigh Douglas 2-4 #SWPL

79'- GOAL! Hayley Sinclair scores. Rangers 3-4 Spartans

79 mins: @RFC_Ladies reduce Spartans lead to a single goal after Hayley Sinclair beats Harrison from 20 yards. 3-4 #SWPL

85'- GOAL! An own goal equalises for Rangers. 4-4

85 mins: It's all square. Turner whips a cross into the Spartans box and it's turned into her own net by the unfortunate Shepherd. 4-4

Amidst the mayhem, @ciara17988 replaces Crosbie. Wow. My fingers are tired!

CORRECTION: 89 mins: Incredibles scenes as @carlajacksonxo unleashes an outrageous strike from 35 yards to beat Elliot. 4-5 #SWPL

Spartans winning goal - and her 1st for the club - came from @carlajacksonxo! #unbelievabletekkers

Full time: Rangers 4-5 Spartans

August has been not that kind to our Ladies, as they slipped from one defeat to another ...

02 Aug 15 - Aberdeen 2 v 0 Rangers (Sunnybank Juniors)

16 Aug 15 - Rangers 0 v 5 Celtic (Benburb Juniors, Govan)

23 Aug 15 - Hibernian 4 v 1 Rangers (Albyn Park, Broxburn)

With 15 games gone, the post-summer-break games ruined any chances of ending up amongst the top teams, something that was expectable at the end of last season. Wholesale changes put that to the sword, it seems, and the next game will be away to Glasgow City, who are in a head-to-head with Hibernian, each team locked on 41 points at the top, a whopping 13 points ahead of the Yahoos. Our Ladies linger in 6th place, two ahead of Spartans and Forfar Farmington.

Next stop:

30 Aug 15 - Glasgow City - Rangers (Excelsior Stadium, Airdrie, KO - 14:30)
