Cambuslang footballer Sophia Martin signs for Rangers

The talented 13-year-old was snapped up by the Ibrox club after leaving Hamilton Accies.

Talented Cambuslang footballer Sophia Martin has signed for Rangers.

The 13-year-old was approached by both Celtic and Rangers last week after ending a four-year spell at Hamilton Accies, but opted for the Ibrox club's under-15 performance team.

Dad Steven Martin says it was Sophia's best chance of progression at such a young age.

He said: "It's a good opportunity for Sophia, and it wasn't a surprise to us at all that she signed - she has the talent to go anywhere.

"She spoke to Rangers last Thursday and Celtic on Friday, but Rangers were best for her progression, especially since she's just turned 13.

"Celtic wanted her to go into their under-17s, but she's a bit young for that - though she has been playing at levels older than her age for a while, now.

"She signed, scored twice against Drumchapel Boys Under-15s and was over the moon.

Sophia has been amazing so far, she's only just turned 13 but was away with Scotland under-16s.

"She dreams of football, she has been playing all her life."

I usually work on my touch when my legs are exhausted, helps with focusing on being sharp even when I’m tired in a game. Decided to bring back the tennis ball after running 8.5km and running 48 25m sprints

Running 8.5 km and then doing 48 x 25 m sprints ... and then start training with the ball. Okay ...
