THERE could be exciting times ahead for the club’s Ladies programme as a new senior head coach takes charge.

Angie Hind has left her post as the SFA’s assistant national coach to head up the club’s Women’s side.

...

Hind brings with her a wealth of playing and coaching experience having spent six years as head coach of an Ivy League school in the USA before her two year stint as assistant coach with Scotland.

However the incoming coach insists it is the resources already in place at Ibrox that make the challenge she faces an exciting one for her.

She said: “I think it’s an exciting time because the club has a tremendous youth structure and a lot of very talented young players.

Pre-season friendly

Rangers Ladies 5-2 Hamilton

Sunday, 03 February 2013 16:00

RANGERS marked the start of their pre-season schedule under new coach Angie Hind in fine style with a 5-2 victory over fellow SWPL side Hamilton.

The home team took an early lead when, with just eight minutes on the clock, Megan Foley finished a Karen Penglase cross at the back post.

Soon after it looked like the Gers had doubled their lead, after an initial save from another Foley shot, Kathryn Hill’s strike from the rebound cruelly hit the underside of the crossbar before being cleared.

However it took until the half hour mark for Rangers to extend their lead when Lisa Swanson reacted well to a mistimed pass back and produced a composed finish.

Rangers weren't to be denied however and Hill was the third name on the score-sheet. Jennifer Condie made a strong run down the left wing before slotting a perfectly weighted ball through for the young midfielder to fire home.

Accies rallied and pulled one back from a corner but the Light Blues reacted quickly to regain their three goal lead just minutes later.

New signing Hayley Cunningham found space from 25 yards and curled a left footed shot into the top corner before Jen Callaghan, who has recently re-joined the club after a spell at Glasgow City, rounded off the scoring for the home side.

Rebecca Blair found space down the right and whipped in a cross for the striker to guide home.

Another corner led to Accies' second but it was a mere consolation on a positive afternoon for the home side.

GOALS: Foley 8, Swanson 30, Hill 57, Cunningham 69, Callaghan 84

We've added quite a few senior players for this season, even though matching up to Glasgow City will still be difficult indeed.

Friendly Result

Liverpool Ladies 6 - Rangers Ladies 0 (2-0)

English FAWSL title contenders Liverpool proved too strong to our young and new team, as the latter was well beaten by the Merseysiders. No real wonder here, as the "English" added no less than 13 new signings to their well equiped internationals-studded line-up of professionals for the upcoming season, where they hope to snatch the title out of Arsenal's grasp.

Next up for the Ladies in the England vs Scotland contest are the Doncaster Belles, who beat Forfar Farmington 3-0 yesterday:

Will nip to see them since they're playing Buchan Ladies in the cup on Sunday at Maud a small village a few miles out the road from here.

Should be an easy win on paper as the Buchan Ladies only have a catchment area of approx 50k from which to source their players.
