Is Ally the Man for the job? - The McCoist Thread

Recommended Posts

I just want to point something out to the anti-fans out there. Imagine we're back in the top league and for some reason Celtic have to postpone 5 games. We could go 15 points ahead. Now if Celtic win those games, that is a 15 point swing - should our manager be sacked?

So Ally McCoist is Rangers now? I thought no man was meant to be bigger than the club?

I've take it you are on the sauce? The number of disparaging posts about Rangers is unbelievable - mostly withthe agenda of slagging the manager but putting down Rangers nonetheless. It's pitiful.

An 11 point swing in less than 2 months was still very poor.

Do you read the threads? I've already made the point that it doesn't matter when you win or lose your games, it's your points total that counts. You don't take two managers with the same points and praise one for a good run of results after a poor start and sack the otherfor a bad patch after a great start. It makes no sense. A bit like having to make the same point twice...

Hope i'm not on the list, i've been as big an advocate as anyone about how our club is alive and well. I've pretty much stopped speaking to a friend (not an awfully close friend admittedly but someone I enjoyed spending time with nonetheless) who supports Celtic because of the constant 'new club' stuff.

My moans about Ally and whoever else only come from wanting the best for Rangers, I could be totally wrong in some of my ideas about what is best.

Of course I do, but this is a pretty fast moving one and your posts can be long (nothing wrong with that, means you're a better writer than me and I probably need a better attention span).

By that logic though calscot are you saying Man Utd did not throw the title away last season? I'd say it's pretty certain they did, they had an 8 point lead with 6 games remaining, yet dropped a lot of points close together and let Man City take it. They ended up with a very respectable 89 points at the end of the season, but I don't think that means their run of form to lose that lead so quickly didn't matter.

I'd say the timing of it does matter, if you go on a very poor run of consecutive games to let a team that's behind see the light you're helping them build momentum and confidence. The way we had let Celtic right back in was crucial to the Old Firm game just before New Year IMO, if we could have maintained some sort of a cushion for it I think we'd have had more confidence and they'd have had less. Of course the result may have been the same but confidence plays as big a part in football as anything.

As for people getting sacked, I didn't think Ally should be sacked at that point and to be fair I haven't even directly called for it yet either bar right after a couple of frustrating games. But do I consider it something worth bringing into the equation when it comes to judging his performance as manager? I certainly do.

You sound like the Rangers Tax Case site. All "facts", all negative spin. All let's twist stuff to make Rangers look much worse than they are. With Friends like you etc...

You use your facts to make Ally look like the second coming so what's the difference?

Are we playing crap football, with players running around looking lost, and without a clue as to what we are meant to be doing.?

I don't see how calling the manager into question is pitiful, so would you rather we all just sat there saying nothing as the team comes crashing down around or heads?

If I remember right it was that attitude that got us into this mess in the first place and we all swore it wouldn't happen again. Well that goes for a manager who looks totally out of his depth as well the people running the club.
