I could be mistaken but I think you'll find that it was claimed and confirmed that we did offer Beattie a contract before signing Sandaza & Kyle but that offer was rejected. McCoist then stated that he was still interested in Beattie and talks were ongoing. It was at this stage after we had already signed 2 CF's that the deal collapsed. Beattie might not have been bothered about the money, but at the end of the day if he'd agreed to what he was offered initially he'd be a Rangers player.
