Kilmarnock cannot afford move for Spanish striker

Recommended Posts

Kenny Shiels hopes his squad can deliver the goods this season, as he admits the club won't sign trialist Borja Perez.

Last season's League Cup winners had the Spanish striker on trial this week and after appearing in Jamie Fowler's testimonial against Sheffield Wednesday, he is set to return to his homeland.

And the Northern Irish boss knows the financial problems facing Kilmarnock at the moment.

"It's difficult. I would sign him if I could." Shiels explained.

"Again, it's down to our budget. We are in a difficult position at Kilmarnock and we have to respect that and understand that we cannot bring players.

"Hopefully, we will be able to do well from within."

Kilmarnock have signed just two players this summer with Rory Boulding and Jeroen Tesselaar arriving at Rugby Park.
