Season Ticket Discount Fund

Recommended Posts

Why people twisted this to say we had recommended that people don't buy season tickets is anyone's guess.

That's the problem that you have given the RST's close association with FF and what certain board members post on the aforementioned forum. Lines are blurred, particularly when it's unclear whether people are posting with their RST hats on .

ff is largely pro season ticket.

almost entirely from what I can see.

Wasn't a few weeks ago, when the mood was very anti-Green and a vast majority who were posting in the hysteria that existed at that point where saying that they would not buy a season ticket while Green was still there.

Why don't you call it A Rangers Supporters Entrustment fund? I seriously doubt that what you are suggesting here would be legal under FSA regulations and/ or company law although I am not an expert. In addition, given the background of people responding to this, I can't believe that people are advocating donating such substantial sums of money to the company who owns the club in exchange for, well nothing really except buying a few players when it could be used to buy the club itself.

As you know, PLG, both my business and I personally am registered with the FSA and I am a former Director of the previous regulator FIMBRA and I do not see that this would be an FSA issue as there is no investment element but I can certainly check.

Is the RFFF regsitered with the FSA? Not so far as I can see on the FSA Register. Nor would I expect it to be. In fact nothing with the name Rangers in it is currently registered.

Also as you know well, so many models have been suggested and so many different people have suggested ways for the fans to buy the club and all have failed. The very well intentioned Gersave never attracted the kind of money that would have been required, my recollection is that Trust members owned 0.08% of oldco through the scheme and you know that on my advice and that of others about the same amount of money was not invested as the Rules dictated. I am aware the you have also been investigating community shares and that is also a possibility but the amounts being discussed here are specific and would be for a specific purpose and I think RST should encourage this type of effort, which clearly has support.

It is obvious that for some fans, providing the ownership is legitimate and seen to be conducting the club's affairs in a proper manner, then that is less important than providing the resources for the team to compete.

The biggest problem Brahim is that we have no one that the fans can get behind,Walter blew it big time, Ally is the manager ,there is no one left to rally around and to take seriously .

The RST are doing the hokey cokey on everything from owners to season tickets ,back dont back , buy dont buy , buy .

I think if it was put to them, Green and Ally would support it.

So this lump of money, whatever it comes to, would someone not have to pay tax on it???

You can't just give people money, can you?

Unless you're a bank I suppose!!!

Well yes you can, at this kind of level there is no tax issue, it certainly would be exempt from Capital Gains Tax!

Not sure if it would be classed as taxable income in the hands of the Club but even if it was it would be no different than season ticket money in that respect. AND of course it would depend on the Club actually making a profit, which is certainly not a given.

There might be an angle if the Fund bought the players rather than the Club although that would probably run foul of UEFA and SFA regs but if the money or the player was then donated to the Club?

This needs a company tax expert, which I am not.

Even went as far as them saying people who buy season tickets would be hurting the club.

What is Brown to do with whether FF/RST were anti-Green and suggesting people don't renew ST's?

Anyway, back on topic, there is no reason that this can't be done. It is to the benefit of the club and there is no compulsion for people to contribute.

If we do nothing then upon our return to the SPL we won't be competitive and none of us want that. It is in ALL our interests, yes that includes Charles Green, to support the club and help return them to where w rightfully belong, at the top of the Scottish game !
