Season Ticket Discount Fund

Recommended Posts

if your buying players then your sending the cash to all sorts of third parties.

buying assets for another person's business makes little sense when you could buy the business.

Eh? The club buys players, not the fans.

I think that you are getting carried away with the amount that would get raised from this venture and trying to change its objective. It's looking to improve the team which is what some of us are interested in.

You don't have to make every thread about change in ownership/anti-Green.

you don't have to assume everything I say is anti green. yesterday I couldn't stand up for leggo without being anti green. now I can't advocate fan ownership.

in case you hadn't noticed mr green wants to sell. indeed 50% is going on offer to fans soon.

the maths or suggestion to buy players wasn't mine either.

Craig, BD, CG and I have all suggested a savings fund based on the one third discounts on season ticket prices in the SFL.

Based on figures quoted on the Season Ticket Renewal - Prices Confirmed thread that I started on 21/7, typical savings this season are:

  • Was £374 now £249 saving £125

  • Was £421 now £281 saving £140

  • Was £554 now £369 saving £185

There will be concessions and some lower and some higher prices but letâ??s say that the average saving is £140 per season.

IF and I know itâ??s a big IF, EVERYONE of 36,000 season ticket holders saved that money for 3 years in a secure fund administered by independent lawyers or accountants with no connection to Rangers then the potential total would be £15,000,000. Aside from collecting and accounting for the money which would be paid in by BACS or FPS there wouldnâ??t be a great deal of administration involved because no money would be paid out until we were back in the SPL1 and then it would only be for specified purposes e.g. buying players.

That would be a decent fund to kick off with in the SPL.

Even if there was to be re-organisation and we were to return to SPL1 in 2 rather than 3 seasons, it could still be £10,000,000.

If anyone has accurate information for the number of season tickets in each category it would be simple to work out a better estimate.

Of course, I realise that only a proportion of season ticket holders would sign up but the target is plain to see. And no season ticket holder who planned to renew could say they didnâ??t have the money although some might say that they have spent it on other things.

As an extension to this, those of us who have been fortunate to follow Rangers regularly in Europe could consider puting some of the money that one might otherwise have spent into this or a similar fund.

I was going to christen this the Rangers Season Tickets Savings Fund or Discount Fund but I didnâ??t much like the initials it produced (RSTSF/DF) so open to suggestions on that one!

Why don't you call it A Rangers Supporters Entrustment fund? I seriously doubt that what you are suggesting here would be legal under FSA regulations and/ or company law although I am not an expert. In addition, given the background of people responding to this, I can't believe that people are advocating donating such substantial sums of money to the company who owns the club in exchange for, well nothing really except buying a few players when it could be used to buy the club itself.

But therein lies the beauty of it STB.....nobody is compelled to contribute. We hear all this "true fan" nonsense all the time... Well, IMHO, a true fan is one who supports through thick and thin, WHEN THEY CAN, so those who CAN contribute (I.e. BrahimHemdani, Bluedell, me, Countless others) can do so.... To the betterment of the club. Whilst those that can't.... Don't. It is simple.

We are in a place NONE of us like, but we ALL want to get back to the top, dominating, ASAP..... And the ONLY people that can make that happen is.... Funnily enough.... US !!!!

So....... Who is in ?

It isn't about Charles Green vs John Brown vs TBK vs Bill Miller vs A.N.Other anymore.... It is about US. Rangers. Rangers fans. Ibrox. The Club. OUR history. OUR heritage. OUR pride. Who are we ?

All I know is I am a Rangers fan, through and through.... And if I can help MY club get back to the top in short shrift (my 7yr old nearly peed his pants today when I told him we had our SFA license, he thought we were back in the SPL.... I told him he would be 10 or 11 when we get there and when we win THAT league it will feel like the Champions League....)....

See, being a bear is about follow following, It is about shouting, as loud as you can, WATP.

We have nothing to fear, nothing to shame, nothing to be embarrassed about, nothing to worry about.... Other than.... I will follow follow, though the straits be broad and narrow....... Will YOU "follow follow" ?

I will. The future of our club depends not on Charles Green, Paul Murrray, Brian Kennedy, Bill Ng, Bill Miller...... The future of RFC depends on one thing only...... RANGERS SUPPORTERS. Kind of simple. Are you in ? I am. I will be renewing my online ST, will be contacting RFC to ensure a "fighting fund" can be established and get it started.

The future of RFC is in OUR hands, nobody else's..... It is time for us ALL to show whether we "follow follow" or not. My money is on us all supporting the club to the best of our ability.

Lets do this. Lets go Div 3 to Champions in 4 years. The only people that can make it happen is........ US !!!!

Very well put Craig.

My renewal form was handed into the ticket office yesterday, smart card activated for East Fife as well and cannot wait.

I'm also in a position where I could certainly give extra help.

Don't think our fans are altruistic enough for this to work, look at the disaster known as GerSave and people were getting something for their money there.

As has been mentioned we need some kind of figure that all fans feel they can get behind in such a venture.

The likes of Dingwall and the RST have been very divisive one way or another.

The biggest problem Brahim is that we have no one that the fans can get behind,Walter blew it big time, Ally is the manager ,there is no one left to rally around and to take seriously .

The RST are doing the hokey cokey on everything from owners to season tickets ,back dont back , buy dont buy , buy .

You know this is where people should take account of what the RST actually says than what people on certain websites say we said. I'm not really sure why people do this but in the last few days i've read 9 pages on another site about how the RST had asked fans not to buy season tickets and now we were advising them to do so. Quotes about 'starving Green of funds' were being attributed to us when it was Bomber Brown who actually said this. The only comment we made on season tickets was back in June when there was doubt about direct debits and whether they were going into the oldco account. We merely advised our members to delay payments until proper banking facililties were in place and that the money was safe from the liquidators. Why people twisted this to say we had recommended that people don't buy season tickets is anyone's guess.

I didn't have the heart to spoil the idea by saying this, but I will hide behind FS and say I have to agree completely.

So this lump of money, whatever it comes to, would someone not have to pay tax on it???

You can't just give people money, can you?

Unless you're a bank I suppose!!!
