Former Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor passes Besiktas medical

I honestly thought McGregor was capable of going to a top 8 EPL team.

I wonder if those managers down south are looking at Craig Gordons 9m move to Sunderland and seeing how it turned out and thinking McGregor would be the same. Gordon was unlucky with injuries and probably chose the wrong club in Sunderland when Villa wanted him, but McGregor would have done well.

Another player who I couldn't give a toss about now, he could've been a legend like some others. The 3 Americans, amongst others, have put some of the so called Rangers supporters to shame. Even if they move on soon they have done things the right way by our club.

An easy 12 months (tax free probably) in Turkey for McGregor before another lucrative move back to the UK next year.

Ask Kenny Miller.

Kenny Miller also turned horrific again and went back to his old self in England. Would he not rather have prolonged a season or 2 of good form? It was the only point in his career where he became decent, bar a couple of seasons in the championship with Wolves. Moving to the MLS for one last pay day, his career won't hold up as anything worth talking about.

Also, will McGregor be happy playing in the championship? That's where he's going to end up.

Premiership clubs will have had their scouts watch him and obviously they don't think he is good enough. How many games per season does he play against decent players/clubs? He's prone to the odd howler too, which will only magnify at a far higher level.

I thought at the time we couldn't blame the players for bailing, but hindsight shows I was totally wrong. Charles Green hasn't stood in the way of anyone leaving, and we could have done with every penny available. Easy for me to say looking back but I do feel very let down by the likes of Allan or Steven Naismith now. I don't suppose they could have known everything at the time but they could have held off - they were out the door in what seemed like seconds.
