SPL and SFL on brink of agreeing £1.2m Rangers telly deal with Sky

Recommended Posts

Maybe it is too early: So the SPL paid for the SFL tv rights for Rangers games to pay the SFL their 2m per annum?

Again, you do wonder how much the SFL would have got in doing their own deal with regards to our tv deals, plus the income our support generates?

What is being missed here is that in 3 years time when (hopefully) we are promoted back to the SPL, there will be a great demand for the SPL tv rights for that season as we go back to fighting for the title and CL participation. That alone should see a much higher value placed on the tv rights for that season onwards.

What the SPL are basically doing just now is trying to get Sky to sign up to a much longer deal to try to make the next 3 years worth more than they should be if sold on their own. What that means to us is that the tv rights for when we are back in the SPL are going to be worth a lot less to us because the clubs who have been in the SPL for the previous 3 years will have been getting paid a large part of the value that WE bring to the league, during the years we are not in the league.

This, yet again, benefits one club far more than it does any other. As the one club who is going to be shown much more often than the others, scum fc are trying to do a deal to ensure they get OUR share of tv money for the future years while we are out of the equation.

It is yet more "punishment" that they are taking our advanced tv rights money before we get there, and throwing the SFL a few crumbs along the way.
