So we are disliked because we are seen as Protestant, Pro-Union, and defenders of the monarchy and that's our problem.

 

Mate, you're reacting to this in an exaggerated way, your flounce post after the one above does you no credit. I don't think anyone is suggesting that's the only reason, but no doubt aspects of it are.

If some dislike us for being 'Protestant' then they have the problem I'd say. The rest, probably football isn't the place for them to be honest.

People hate us because the mhedia have been stitching us up for decades and nobody has stood up to them and challenged the lies , only recently the fans have taken it on their self to do so with groups like Vangaurd bears .

 

The general public have bought into the decades of mhedia lies and spin, when our fans HAVE done wrong every incident has been blown out of proportion and dragged out in the full mhedia glare. Timmy web sites are sending out 24/7 propaganda against our club and have been relentless at it for years, you can include the bbc as part of the Timmy propaganda machine. No wonder people hate us because very rarely have lies about our club been challenged from within the club .

 

The Timmy propaganda machine is top notch . We lost the PR battle a long long time ago .

Good point. No harm in that. As long as there's nothing in the songs which expresses hate for others.

 

Have you heard some of the venom and bile spat at Rangers supporters by other clubs supporters. That's what football supporters do , we are no worse than any other group of supporters. Why should we change to appease other clubs supporters who will hate us regardless of what we do .

 

Do you think if we stop singing the sash and Derrys walls, stop waving the Union flag and singing rule Britannia that other clubs supporters will start to like us, or a few years down the line a new generation of supporters of other clubs will grow up not to hate Rangers ?

 

Of course they won't and all the time the Timmy propaganda machine and their mhedia monkeys will be churning out more lies and spin, the Aberdeen fans will be telling their kids all about the big bad Rangers. Like wise with supporters all over the country. We are the most successful club in the country, envy and jealousy will breed hatred . I honestly think there's nothing we can do to change that except keep fighting our corner, get our own PR machine on the go and fight back that way.

 

Maybe other people need to change and become more tolerant of what large numbers of Rangers supporters regard as their traditions and heritage.

And your missing the point that Rangers are extension of people's life you can't ask people to ignore who they are just to support Rangers. I don't care if you think religion shouldn't be at football it is, religion is everywhere whether you like it or not and unless you ban religion you won't separate the two.

 

Are you seriously saying we are only hated because we are the prodomiant Protestant team in Scotland? Because I know Protestants who hate us with a passion and it's nothing to do with religion.

Again you seem unable to see the point or will just continue to avoid it. I have never said Rangers are hated because alot of the fans protestant mate.

 

I really feel sorry for people like you, the fact that your unable to seperate football / sport from your religion is sad it really is. One day all religion will hopefull be banned and then people will finally have to take resposibility for ther own lives and stop being cowards.

Absolutely no!

The problem is that some of us think we are hated because we're protestant. Some of us think that it's relevant to football that we're pro-union. Some of us, for some reason, imagine that our opinions on the monarchy are connected to sport.

 

These problems are what our FOOTBALL club really need to leave behind.

 

 

 

It's not a matter of leaving your culture behind when you go through the turnstile - it's a matter of knowing when it's relevant.

If we don't, then some of us will still be quite fairly accused of prejudice, bigotry and arrogance.

Remember - we are the people, but they are people too!

Where does it stop once we have all left the protestant coat at the door

 

People don't leave their coat at the door, they put one on - it's plastic, orange, garish and crass, and makes a mockery of the real thing. It also makes the wearers as bad as those they make figures of hate in the name of that coat.

I remember this aspect very well from when I was at school and classed as a glory hunter by classmates etc who were Motherwell fans. It's a slightly unusual aspect in this subject, but I do think it's one of the contributing factors to the hatred and bitterness shown towards us.

 

Strange reading that one Zappa...I remember me and a couple of mates watching an OF game in a social club in Motherwell many years ago (can't remember the name of the place) and everyone being right behind Rangers, singing all the Rangers songs and the like.

Next midweek we went back for the 'buzz' for a game v 'WELL and the same guys who were jumping up and down days before gave us daggers when Rangers scored? True mate.

 

In Motherwell anyway, they don't like septic more than us.

So can you explain to me why stopping singing certain songs no idea what ones it is by the way, stop waving the national flag, stop giving free tickets to troops that gets certain folks backs right up. They hate us because we win most things and aren't slow about reminding everyone of them about it any chance we get. They hate us because they've been programmed to hate us by folk telling them we are big bad Rangers and it's our fault their team is pish and bigotry only exists because of us. You can do everything you want to suck up the arse of these people they will still hate you just because you wear a blue football top if you can't grasp that then I'm sorry but it's not me with the problem.

 

They hate us because we aren't them plain and simple.
