Walter Smith reveals blueprint

Recommended Posts

Quite a realistic remark, since both he and most fans would know that there was no chance whatsoever of that sort of money coming through.

If anyone can show me a manager who has said 'no, I won't buy player X until I know where the money is coming from' I will award him a pint. Let's just nip this pish about Smith being part of the problem before it gets started - it's a Tim campaign and no doubt they will soon be calling for Martin O'Neill to explain his £6m signings back in the day. Aye, right!

Bears should have nothing to do with it.

Total cop out mate. He must have known he was spending money we did not have, same with Advocat.

Another way to look at it is is Walter had no idea about the money, then i would not want him anywhere near Ibrox in any job in the future if he really could not work out he was spending money we did not have.

Agree with Andy lets not let the Tims get us fighting over Rangers Legends. I was never a great fan of his methods but his trophy cupboard is bigger than mine.

So is DA and he spent money we did not have.

Why do some of our fans simple not have the ability to seperate what a managers wins from how or what consequenses come of the trophy's?

That's an interesting point actually. I remember him saying relatively recently (prior to administration), that we needed to spend something like £20m on the squad. Quite a frightening remark.

Yep. He would have spent us to oblivion if the bank had let him. And still lost to Kaunas and Unirea!
