St Johnstone in Europe

Recommended Posts

Would normally have got behind most Scottish clubs in Europe but now I hope the Turks stuff them!!

Reading that is says:

The Perth side's opponents only qualified after Besiktas were banned by Uefa from European competition due to financial issues.

However, the Istanbul club has appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, who have yet to issue a decision.

If Besiktas are successful in challenging their punishment, Bursaspor, who themselves won an appeal against expulsion at CAS last week, would step in.

I hope St Johnstone fans show their sporting integrity and boycott the game - or will they be hypocrites as usual?

Well, if you're waiting for St Johnstone to get the Scottish coefficient up, don't hold your breath.

I'm the same in principle, I like to see Scottish clubs doing well in Europe, so we'll just wait and see how many goals they let in.

Can that bring our coefficient down if they getted gubbed?

Our coefficient is about to go through the floor.

We only need to drop one place to lose a CL place and go down to four teams. The champions would also have another qualifier.

After that it doesn't get much different the lower you go for a while as you still have four teams, but the number Europa qualifiers becomes greater for the teams.

People forget that Rangers have propped up the coefficient for years and we'd already be far lower without our exploits.

Well, maybe when we get back into the top flight and bring our coefficient back up, other teams fans will see our importance.

Then again, maybe not. Hate is a difficult thing to rid yourself of, especially when your one of the shiter teams. Which means all the rest of them, basically!
