In Defence of Steven Naismith

Recommended Posts

I'm hurt because Naisy is one of us, die in the wool Bluenose, but his comments on why he's leaving are simply staggering.

The comments from Naisy were so staggering that I simply don't believe they were or are his true feelings.

Could Naisy have been used or been put up to making the comments in order to try and force Green's consortium into selling up?

Or am I blinded by loyalty for the lad because I thought he was a cracking player and just giving him too much benefit of the doubt?

Should we just take their comments at face value when there might be some games being played out behind the scenes?

What if they know something we don't?

I don't know what to think, but I'll repeat what I said yesterday: I'm not willing to judge the players at the moment. Maybe they are indeed out for themselves and being extremely foolish with their choices of words in statements and when answering press/media questions, but I for one seriously doubt that Steven Naismith genuinely thinks Rangers is dead. It just doesn't compute unless they know something we don't.

'Rangers are the same club as ever but sadly they will be at a much lower level for a while and I want to progress my career. I will continue to be a fan of the same Rangers I was as a boy.'

Something like is all it took and would have done nobody any harm, I think you're clutching at straws hoping there's some bigger plan.
