Smith consortium withdrawing bid ??!

Walters thinking why did I get involved with another couple of chancers calling themselves Rangers men.

I dont see why they arent Rangers men. Just because they dont part with their cash to buy the club doesnt mean they arent Rangers men. Yes, they are wealthy, but they have no obligation to buy us. Doesnt mean they arent Rangers men.

We are all disappointed that they havent used their wealth to buy us - and even that may not be the end of the story... they may still be wanting to but want to drive a bargain to keep their powder dry for the ongoing funding, nothing wrong with that, happens every day in business - we as fans are just angered/annoyed/frustrated/disappointed because we saw someone like McColl, with all his wealth who could comfortably have funded us, decided not to do so.

There is no money in football in Scotland and we have all heard that it would require for someone to subsidise the club, at least short-term, to the tune of tens of millions - that is not an insignificant amount of money when you consider they may NEVER be a return on it and, indeed, you could end up having to subsidise it again.

That is a BIG question to ask of anyone, even wealthy Rangers men.

I understand all that.

But it makes it all the more pathetic that RST and the likes were suggesting boycotts and arranging protests in support of guys like this when clearly their heart wasn't in it that much.

I agree. RST are a busted flush IMO. I think they already were prior to SDM selling but they have hung their hat on the failure that was Craig Whyte (to be fair, it would be easy to see they could have been duped, plenty were) and they have hung their hat on TWO failed bids since administration, being TBK and now the McColl group. The McColl group may win the battle (if they are still in it, we just never know in this sordid mess) but the RST have done anything but cover themselves in glory in who they have favoured.

All that said, MD has been a pretty good mouthpiece for the club over the last few months it has to be said.

But the telling thing for me is that since administration, and probably even before, the RST should have been a galvanising force for the fans, one for us ALL to gather around to show our true power as fans.... and yet it would appear that the Trust has had very few new members since the crisis appeared.

I would be interested in the numbers of new members to see just how accurate that suggestion is but I dont think it is even refutable that the RST has not been the galvanising force that it should be.

But this is also another topic for another thread because when the RST are mentioned the thread goes completely off tangent.

If you really love something and it's in your blood you don't think twice about stopping its death and you go the extra mile to help. These muppets never even got to the starting line.

I've stood in the same room as some of these guys listening to them moan for years about Murray and how he was doing it wrong, but when it comes to crunch and they are asked to step up they run a mile.

if the rumour of 8 million for half the club is true that's 16 million to buy us then d king thinks 30 million needs spending.

that's a lot of cash even for very rich rangers men.

Guest Dutchy

Confusion rules the day again!

After reading all the posts on this thread, I'm no better informed.

I go back to what I was reading sometime last week.

Apparently, there's no such thig yet as a newco, BDO have yet to severe the ties with the admins, so I'd think there's nowhere else to put the money, but in any account still being held by the old co. I'm also sure that I've read that this renewal process could take months, not weeks and nothing is really going to happen until after the 4th July vote on our SPL status anyway.

Businessmen can really make a dogs breakfast out of money matters, but it's my view they've been doing that for years, so I wouldn't get too excited about anything for some time yet.

There are plenty of fans who LOVE the club who are, at the same time, refusing to spend 400+ quid on a season ticket because they wont pay that if we are in the 3rd division. I dont think we can deny that they love the club, can we ?

Would you say they are not going the extra mile ?
