Selic First to Vote Against

Recommended Posts

If we lose the SPL vote it would literally be turkey's voting for Christmas. Chairman of the other clubs may talk tough but I would suggest the bank managers of the vast majority of them will be on the phone to them "strongly advising" them to vote us back in or face the consequences. You only have to look at some of the debts of some of these wee diddy clubs to see that.

if SFL or SPL don't want us why not join say dutch league div2 & hopefully get promoted ?

England is out. They've world's best league & have enough big clubs

Because FIFa don't allow teams to play in another country's league. You can onlt do that if you have no professional league of your own like andorra or San Marino or something.

Division 3 then. Within a couple of years, half the clubs in the SPL will either be bust or semi-pro.

The Scottish League was reformed over 30 years ago to allow clubs to generate more money from playing each other 4 times a season - two home games against the OF being the main reason.

In recent years the attraction of four OF games has brought Sky TV on board. Do you really think the SPL will throw all that away? I very much doubt it.

As for selic, yes they will vote us out knowing the rest of the clingers-on wont.

There's no chance they'll throw it away. That's why they weren't willing to entertain the idea of switching to a bigger league when having discussions on it a year or so ago. There's a lot of Scottish football fans who would like them to restructure the SPL to a 16 or 18 team league (16 team league is actually the favourite), but they aren't willing to do it because the existing SPL clubs don't want less games against Rangers and Celtic and the broadcasters don't want less Old Firm games.

I really can't see a significant enough number of clubs voting against us playing in the SPL next season because it would leave too many of the clubs in financial trouble. The majority of clubs simply can't afford to lose us.

What all the other clubs want is us severely sanctioned, crippled, but keeps us as their cash cow.

Yep, and there's a fair chance that they'll manage to do exactly that. They'll vote us back into the SPL but cripple us with sanctions. We're just going to have to accept what they hit us with because we can't afford to voluntarily go down to the 3rd division or anything like that. It doesn't make sense to even be talking about it. People who're saying we should flick them the vicky and leave the SPL voluntarily aren't taking into account the full ramifications it would have for us.
