Charles Green Statement

Recommended Posts

I'd also emphasis the point that while it may be true that Green can't get the money together as it stands, he probably does have investors ready should certain issues be finalised. A risky strategy though - no doubt about it!

He has a slight advantage in that D&P are under a lot of pressure to have shown they picked the right guy this time. As such, Green is perhaps being given some leeway he wouldn't normally have otherwise.

PM had thrown Ticketus out but it remains to be seen what/if Kennedy would have been owed anything.

Good deal or not, Green has said the club would be debt free and that wasn't strictly true. Unfortunately, as much as most of us want to believe he's the real deal, it's inconsistencies like that which make people suspicious.

The guy or may not be the next owner but either way our support are entitled to ask certain questions given the annual investment (on top of any share issue) that we offer every season.

That goes for any new owner.

Debt free never means that you don't owe any money at all.

Green's point was that we weren't going to be owing fortunes to the likes of HMRC.

Murray bought us with 6M bank loan, Mini would have had 10M ticketus debt. We owe Sevco 8.2M but no btc, stc, 18M Loyds, 24M ticketus or even £1 debt to the shyster, good deal IMHO.

I find this use of whataboutery extremely tedious. Green should be judged on whether his deal is good for Rangers, not on whether it's less bad than someone else's plan.

That's a strange interpretation of debt-free. I must use it the next time I visit the bank manager.

Bank: Do you have any debt?

Me: No, I'm debt-free...

Bank: What about your car loan?

Me: That doesn't count.

Bank: Cool - here's £27million.

By definition, it does.

There is a reason that he omitted to tell everyone that his deal involved a loan that we would pay back. What do you think that was?

His plans probably weren't in full motion then, and it's a a strategy used throughout football, it's not like Whyte using season ticket advances to buy the club.

Celtic have been calling themselves debt free for years, but it's certainly not like they don't owe a penny.

The main point of it is not having unsustainable an crippling debt.

What do Celtic have to do with it?
