ian1964 10,720
BARRY BANNAN last night revealed he wants to play for Team GB â?? even though Scotland fans and SFA chiefs are dead-set against the Olympic team. The 22-year-old Aston Villa midfielder claims heâ??s ready to answer the call from coach Stuart Pearce. Heâ??s seen his international team-mates James Forrest and Craig Mackail-Smith pull out and was expected to follow. But after listening to Christophe Berra, who believes Scotland players should take part if asked, he is now ready to accept. He said: â??I donâ??t know if Iâ??ll be picked but if I am Iâ??ll probably go. I listened to what Christophe had to say. He thinks it would be silly to turn it down because itâ??s such a great opportunity.â? But Bannan is ready for any fansâ?? backlash. He added: â??Itâ??s just one of those things youâ??ve got to do. If the fans are going to give me stick for it Iâ??ll be strong enough to take it. Iâ??ve had stick before. â??Iâ??m always going to be playing for Scotland so I donâ??t see the big deal really.â? But Bannan insists NO ONE from Hampdenâ??s sixth floor has pulled him aside and asked him to decline. He added: â??I thought that somebody might have said something in Florida, but nobody said a word. That says to me that if I do get picked I might as well go.â? andy steel 0
Well, I'm a Scotland fan and a nationalist, and I have no beef with any player who turns out for team GB. A lot of hot air.
