Donâ??t pay me.. just SIGN me

CHRIS HEGARTY will put his life on hold in just eight days time.

The Ibrox youngster is facing an uncertain future with his contract set to expire on May 31.

Born and raised a Rangers fan in Northern Ireland, the 20-year-old is desperate to land a new deal.

And he insists heâ??s prepared to go a month WITHOUT wages to clinch it.

Hegarty said: â??It wouldnâ??t bother me to go without wages because I know I have a good family who will look after me.

â??Itâ??s something I am prepared to do. I am not worried about it because I want to stay at the club.

â??I have been here for a few years now and I want to remain as long as possible.

â??Iâ??m settled here and it feels like I have a family around me. Somewhere else might not be the same.

â??If I need anything here, people like Steven Davis and David Healy will look after me. It is the same with the coaching staff. They are always there for you.

â??The bond between the players has been incredible during the current crisis and it has made us tighter as a group.

â??Iâ??m in a perfect situation as I have supported Rangers all my life. I owe it to them to wait.

â??I would be devastated if the club closed down.

â??We can only hope Charles Green saves the day.â?

Hegarty â?? a centre-half who can also play at right-back â?? made his Gers debut against Linfield earlier this month.

Heâ??s a player boss Ally McCoist rates highly and one he could be forced to rely heavily on next season.

With a 12-month SFA transfer embargo in place, McCoist will need to play his kids if a host of top stars quit the crisis-hit club this summer.

And last night Heggy confessed: â??I think everyone agrees that it is good place to be as a youngster at the moment.

â??Rhys McCabe has been given his chance, Jamie Ness has been given his chance and others have been doing well.

â??I donâ??t think there will be much pressure on us to do well.

â??We just have to grow up and prove we can step up to the plate. If you are good enough then you are old enough.â?

McCoist is keen to hand Hegarty a new deal but with the Charles Green takeover yet to go through, the Ibrox gaffer is in no position to offer ANYONE terms.

Hegarty added: â??The gaffer has spoken to me but I suppose it is above his head.

â??They have bigger things to think about than me, but I want to be here next season.

â??Andy Little and Andy Mitchell are in the same position and Iâ??m sure he doesnâ??t want to lose them either.

â??Iâ??m trying to remain positive I will be here.â?
