European chances in two years

Recommended Posts

Your cheerleading for our rivals should always be derided, immature or not.

Cheerleading? Stop talking nonsense. I disagree with the guy in the sense I could never want Celtic to do well, co-efficient or no co-efficient, but he comes nowhere near close to cheerleading.

I can see his point and understand it, even if I disagree.

All this chat about doing nothing in Europe until we can spend money on new players is utter madness. We're in no position at all to continue spending, no matter who throws money at us. The future should always be bringing through good young home-grown talent into the first team. Trade our way out of this economic mess and set a structure for the future of our club and Scotish football - ala Feyenoord or Dortmund.

Who knows what gems of players we could nurture from Murray park in the future.

Eh? Did you read the original post or am I missing something? A bit left field for what thread is about.

I seem to recall being getting to the UEFA final as assistant manager... Wasn't Durrant the coach at the time? They were both also in what could be considered the most successful team in our history in Europe. I'm afraid with that last statement your knowledge of Rangers is severely lacking but then I presume you're still at school...

I thought it was all Walter Smith that got us to the 2008 final?

Do you honestly think that the current manager and co will do anything in europe?

You talk about history, did you just forget the current manager getting us beat by 2 pub teams before the season had even started mate?

Stick to facts and stop the pish about age, thats rubbish is for ff mate.

It's hypocritical to tell people to stick to facts when you don't stick to them yourself in the very same post. They weren't pub teams. Far from it in fact.

Both Malmo and Maribor were absolutely pathetic. Dreadful opposition who our reserves should be beating never mind our first team. Pub team is perfectly apt. for both.

Pub team is a bit nonsense. They were poor teams in the grand scheme of Europe, but slightly better than the Nag's Head 11.

As we all said prior to playing both though - if we can't beat this team, we don't deserve to be in Europe. And we didn't and didn't.

What were they then? Contenders for the EL or CL? Or were they 2 very very small teams with tiny budgets that beat us with ease?

I love how you like to try and pick me up on everything Zappa, if you want to have credability you might want to do this with everybody on this site. You have shown over the last couple of weeks that you not being even with eveybody. You pick me up any time i post anything but allow certain people to have digs, make up stuff and be abusive.

The current manager has already done much in Europe, with mixed results - some the best we have ever had and some pretty poor. I have no idea how he will fare if he is still manager when we next qualify to compete. I have no reason to believe he will do worse than can be reasonably expected for our squad, quality of opposition and circumstances at the time - honestly.

I think you need to look up the word "fact" in the dictionary. Rangers were not beaten by ANY pub teams last season - FACT! As in the REAL meaning of "fact". the fact is they did not play any pub teams as that would firstly would not provide enough of a challenge and secondly the risk of injuring valuable, professional footballers due to the lack of skill of the opposition would be too great.

Check the fixtures and results - there are no pub teams mentioned. Maybe you should stop the pish lies and propaganda to disparage Rangers and its manager? I don't know what forum that rubbish should be on - certainly not a Rangers supporters' one.
