CumbernauldGers 0
No player should be on over £10k a week in the SPL. The wage structure needs to be completely overhauled. Let's see how many of Rangers men will accept it. I agree with you 100% mate over a wage structure. I think we could go to £15k max for a couple of higher profile players but the core of the squad on no more than £10K. But we will have to improve the scouting network big time, but Aluko shows what can be found for nothing.
Zappa 0
I'd be very happy if we could keep the following 1st team players for next season: Keepers McGregor Adam Gallacher Right back Broadfoot Ortiz Cole Central Defence Bocanegra Goian Perry Hegarty Left Back Wallace Kerkar (utility player) Central Midfield Davis McCabe Ness Hutton Attacking Midfielders who can play as Strikers too Naismith Aluko Bedoya Fleck Strikers McCulloch Little Hemmings If we kept that squad, then the players who'd be leaving including ones whose contract runs out anyway would be: Alexander - Great back up, but rarely needed. Whittaker - One of our highest earners that we could sell for decent money. Papac - Leaving anyway. Bartley - Leaving anyway. Edu - If wage is managable, then we could keep him, especially if Davis leaves. Healy - Not given enough of a chance. Out of contract. Lafferty - One of our higher earners that we could sell for decent money. If you added those players to those who've already left this season - Jelavic, McKay, Wylde, McMillan & Celik, that would be 12 players off the wage bill. Pretty severe cuts, but severe cuts to our wage bill are needed. Edited May 13, 2012 by Zappa
metlika 0
I would say Ortiz would need to go imo.
Zappa 0
I would say Ortiz would need to go imo. He's versatile, experienced, reasonably skilled, won't be on a crazy wage and he's got 2 years left on his contract.

We should put a £5m pricetag on him if clubs are sniffing. Naismith's pricetag for the vultures should be £7m and McGregor's £10m.

Agreed, we should accept no less than our valuations for players we want to keep.
the wasp 0
I think Green has previous in terms of selling high value players. This will be devastating, but probably for the best since we aren't in Europe. If you listen to what Mr.Green stressed in his statement,"Europe is a must" the only way to make money. If that's the case, then I very much doubt anyone (unless they want to) will be leaving the club.
54andcounting 0
There's a lot of 'Rangers supporters' playing for us just now. Maybe that would sway them on staying or leaving regarding pay. I know footballers chase the buck, but I'd like to think these guys will stick it out for as long as needs be, just a thought.
Zappa 0
There's a lot of 'Rangers supporters' playing for us just now. Maybe that would sway them on staying or leaving regarding pay. I know footballers chase the buck, but I'd like to think these guys will stick it out for as long as needs be, just a thought. The problem is that McGregor, Davis and Naismith who are Rangers fans are all on higher wages than what we can really afford. They're all on long contracts too along with Whittaker who's also on a higher wage than we can afford. Ideally, I'd like us to keep the first three, so what I'm thinking is why not sell Whittaker to effectively reduce the wages of McGregor, Davis and Naismith. Ok, so it wouldn't be reducing their wages, but it would reduce the overall wage bill. If you added the departures of Papac and Healy to the equation, then the wage bill would be coming down a lot by only losing Whittaker, Papac & Healy before anyone even considers other cuts.
