Utterly divided support

Recommended Posts

Ok, I have to say for all the splits I've been mentioning, there seems to be one repeating issue which has plagued us for years and is more than prevalent in this thread.

That being pro-RST V anti-RST.

It all seems to boil down to Dingwall's group and those who disagree with them.

Am I wrong?

Yes, you are, it's far more complicated than that and is mainly internet based. Take Whyte's time with us as a prime example. Vicious arguments in the forums, not a peep on the terraces.

All this talk of certain groups/sites being pro-TBK's and not scrutinising every bid the same.. here's what nails it for me:

PM touted investor's names for TBK's, a certain individual contacted one of these investor's who said from the start that he wasn't 100% committed. Turns out he withdrew his interest. Some fans then blamed the individual who contacted said person for the investor pulling out and he was then hounded & threatened, warned (by police) not to attend Ibrox, not to post on internet Forums & keep a low profile. All this even though the investor has never said that the letter/e-mail was the reason he withdrew.

A few weeks later, a substantially greater offer was received from another bidder. Some fans did not like this.. & aired their views via banners at Ibrox. The bidder then withdrew his offer & cited various reasons including the fact that the fans had voiced their opinions clearly. This was then brushed off as "if he is upset by a few banners then he should have never bid in the first place."

What is the difference between the 2 stories & why did 1 brew up a complete (& utterly ridiculous) shitstorm when the other didn't. This for me, completely sums up how divided our support is & how some fans have too much power within our support.

P.S this post is not a reason to re-open the shit that happened a few weeks ago so please don't use it as one.

So I'm not wrong. All you're saying is the splits exist online and not in the real world.

So all the angry men battering keyboards and cyber shouting are too feart to repeat theirselves in the real world?

To be fair, sometimes they are. I hear so many people say that we should rid the offensive songs from our book but then at Rangers clubs, Ibrox & any other gathering of the boys no-one batts an eyelid when they are belted out.

It was partly tongue in cheek, but it is a lot easier to voice your opinions from behind a keyboard. Even the smallest, most timid of people can be cyber-lions.

But that makes it difficultto compare online and the real world, there may be folk out there with the same opinions but too frightened to air them without the anonymity that a computer brings.

I know mate, it is. I agreed with your post for that exact reason :)
