Darthter 542
Brinkmanship. TBK will be well aware that the chances of a CVA are 50/50 at best. Of course they will have explored a newco and at some point they're going to have to devote more resources into that route. D&P know that they can't deliver Whyte so are perhaps attempting to force TBK down the newco route. Or at least pressure them into opening up a little. Miller can sit back and watch them squabble. The gentle promotion of newco via a variety of sources lately isn't a coincidence IMO. Why bother with the BK's then.....why not just accept Miller's bid & get on with it???
rbr 1,254
Why bother with the BK's then.....why not just accept Miller's bid & get on with it??? Probably because they know that Miller's SPL demands on no new sanctions , will not be forth coming. That would leave only TBK's and they would be in a very strong position , as Frankie has alluded to this has a long way to go yet
Frankie 8,297
Why bother with the BK's then.....why not just accept Miller's bid & get on with it??? Because it's conditional also and they've said they won't accept conditional bids. TBK will have to very soon decide if they want to pay off Whyte or apply for newco.
craig 5,199
NONE of us want Whyte to be paid off. But also NONE of us (including TBK's) want newco. So if they truly mean that then they should ante up the cash and pay Whyte off (depending on how much he wants). And yes, it sticks in my craw even suggesting that.
Danny 0
But also NONE of us (including TBK's) want newco. Really? Are you totally sure about that?
forlanssister 3,084
Really? Are you totally sure about that? If you're insinuating that BK/BKs' want a newco you're miles out, it is however Duff & Phelps preference and it would be very interesting to hear their reasoning why.

I doubt they want it but they may not have any choice.
Bears 0
I’ve now settled that we’re going down the newco route. None of them want to give CW millions, so if this is a way round that then so be it
forlanssister 3,084
I doubt they want it but they may not have any choice. Yes, and Duff & Phelps are engineering the process so that there'll be no option but the question remains why?
