How are we going to be better off playing in the 3rd division? We're not better off but I'm f#^ked if I want us to help the same people changing rules on the fly to hammer us into submission but want us there only in name to make them money. Think they call people like that pimps and we would be the whore.

We'll have a team of 18/19 year olds and those who nobody else wants next season, why not upset the SFA/SPL and let the kids play in the 3rd division? I'm sure we'd romp that first season and division 2 the next, the 1st division would be more of a challenge but by then we'd be able to bring players in. 3 seasons and back in the SPL, no sanctions no moving goalposts, no carve ups and 3 seasons worth of deterioration of the SPL without us.

There's also three years of deterioration for us, a point which is oft skirted over. Is there anything stopping the SPL from deciding to do away with promotion/relegation while we are off on our jollies? Reverting back to ten clubs so each member gets a bigger share of the pie?
Jim1955 12
For what it's worth I think Ally was hinting at a M.A.D. scenario. Mutually assured destruction. He was robustly telling the SFA to back off or we wouldn't be the only club put out of business.
Owain 0
The idea of Div 3 worries the hell out of me. I remember the 80's, it was bad. Div 3 would be worse. And what if we didn't get up after the first season? How many would come back the season after? Ibrox with only 1000 supporters in it would be a very cold & lonely place. All this conspiracy talk worries me too. Our club broke the rules, we get punished no matter who is in charge. We should be focusing on ways to stop this from ever happening again. Rather than isolate ourselves we might be better off uniting with supporters from other clubs & ensuring more openess in the way football teams are managed. The likes of SDM, Whyte and the constant persuit of self gratification & profit are our ememies here. Not the SFA.

I think you are completely wrong there. It's easy for a big club to get back on its feet once the income is back at the level of its rivals. Celtic are a case in point and you only have to look at a load of English Premiership clubs doing all right after spending time in the lower divisions. If we forget Europe, we only have to be as financially as strong as Celtic and that would come automatically with promotion back to the SPL. In fact we could be in better shape as we will have had to cut our cloth while they may have overspent while income dwindles from lack of interest. Their competitiveness will have been blunted by having no real competition. The clubs that would really suffer are the bottom half of the SPL who rely on the TV money and OF gate increases just to stay afloat. I think they'd be in poor shape when we come back up. If we showed the right attitude from the club, players and fans we could come back pretty strongly. However, I'm not confident our fans are showing enough character with many saying they wouldn't support a Newco and others not interested in following the team in the lower divisions.

I hope that the people who are saying this are saying it out of anger. We all say stuff in angst. If anyone refuses to support our team because we play in a lower division then, in my opinion, they are glory hunters & should really think about what they are saying.

The way ahead should've been let's help Rangers get back on its feet for the benefit of Scottish Football then we will see what went wrong and see who's to blame and if punishment is needed it will be dealt with then. I take it you haven't spoken to another teams fans or the chairmen of the clubs it's a feeding frenzy out there and we're the main meal and the so called people in charge The SFA are throwing blood in the water to keep it up. I find it truly bizarre that Rangers fans are crying out we deserve this.
calscot 0
Saying we deserve it is a bit weird from our own fans. The way I see it, it's like an orphan being given new foster parents. Nine months later they are found guilty of being unfit parents and banned from fostering again. Then unbelievably the orphan is fined and banned from making new friends for a year... It's completely illogical and ethically outrageous.

That Cal is the best way of looking at this if heard and just shows how out utterly stupid this whole mess is.
