Can we be the new Elgin City?

Watch for some new rule coming in to stop us going down to the third if it comes to that they want us crippled on the pitch, but not when it comes to money we generate for them.

What?? the SFA changing the rules mid season just to punish us and to suit themselves? Never !!!

I'm sure the SFA and the other SPL clubs will be thinking about the effects all this will have on them. Even without going to the 3rd and staying in the SPL. The fans are talking about boycotting away games, affecting clubs income. Boycotting scottish cup games, affecting revenue and having an adverse effect on advertising and sponsorship. And empty stadiums looks really bad on tv.

By the same token,if these sanctions are put in place, then we could lose our better experienced players, leaving us with nothing but young players and whilst they are all good prospects,if a few of them get injured then we could end up getting relegated while at the same time the other SPL clubs get all the cash generated from the Rangers fans.

As I said in my post a minute ago, the SPL teams might not benefit from the Rangers fans at all, which will be a major concern to them!

If we are still here next season I think the boycott is a given so all they can salvage is the TV/Sponsrship deals by keeping us in.

Problem is if our youngsters are good enough to be Rangers youngsters in the SPL, if we drop to the 3rd div, then surely they’re good enough to leave to clubs further up the divisions, even other SPL teams?

The logic that our youngsters would stay doesn’t wash with me

I agree with that. One small benefit is that maybe some of the better young players in scotland will decide they want to come to us, as they can make the first team and progress with the club as it recovers.

That is the sticking point but think of the hero worship these youngs guys would get if they brought us straight back up might be enough to keep them.

There is no logic in choosing to go to the 3rd. It's based purely on using perceived financial muscle to damage other clubs. There appears to be some romantic notion that we will have 50,000 ST holders at Ibrox, paying SPL prices whilst watching McGregor keeping clean sheets against Montrose and Elgin. Anyone who was around in the early eighties will realise how fickle the support is, and I would say that things are worse now.

Simple question CJ, Div3 start from scratch and rebuild at least winning on the way or start from scratch SPL whored out for our name but struggling to get into the top 6 for years. Which scenario loses the fans quicker?

Because either way McGregor, Naismith, Davis, Edu, Boca, Goian, Laff, Aluko are all gone.
