caseyjones 0
You assume though that Davis wouldn't stay, that he'll only follow the money. He might not get back 100% of his wages but they will go back up again. No need to write him off yet. The wages will go back to what they were on June 1st, something which we are unable to afford. Even if none of the players invoke the clauses they had put into their contracts, they will need to be dealt with. There is no way that they will agree to the same level of cuts again, which leaves us with the option of selling on those who have some value, making the redundancies which were on the table six weeks ago or the new owners bankroll us, enabling us to live outwith our means once again. I fully expect to see Naismith, Davis, Lafferty and Whittaker to leave during the summer. More may be sold, others may choose to go.
Guest steff
If Davis is out for the rest of the season it will give young McCabe a run in the team whwich would be a good thing IMO
calscot 0
If we can go forward without any debt then I think our wage bill should be almost manageable despite no European football. We seemed to be able to cope with it when we were paying back millions every season to LBG plus 1-2m in interest. We also haven't usually made that much profit from Europe even when we do well due to costs and increased bonuses. With the sale of Jelavic already completed and four or five other players moved on, I'd find it hard to believe that our squad needs huge cuts to bring the wage bill down to an affordable level.
