stewarty 2,010
Finished 2 nil. http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hlid=426551&CPID=219&clid=&lid=554&title=Young+Scots+impress+again Scotland's Under-16s produced another impressive display to beat Wales Under-16s 2-0 in the Sky Sports Victory Shield. Ross Mathie's youngsters had looked good in beating Northern Ireland in their first game and the momentum continued at Livingston's Almondvale ground. The hosts could have been in front after just four minutes, but Archie Campbell lofted the ball wide of the target after racing on to a long punt downfield. It was not long after when Scotland did take the lead as John Fleck's left-wing cross was headed in at the far post by Danny Thomson. Scott Durie's header brushed the crossbar before Scotland netted a second goal seven minutes after the interval. Fleck's defence-splitting pass sent Campbell clear and he rounded Welsh keeper Jonathan North before slotting into an empty net. North was then called on to keep the score down when he produced a fine reflex save to push away Alex Cooper's header. The promising shot-stopper then made another flying save as he pushed Thomson's free kick onto the post, with Wales rarely threatening at the opposite end.
