Fighting Fund Hits £250k

Recommended Posts

The RST's SaveRangers pledge scheme royally screwed this official club initiative and now the RFFF is looking like it might just have performed it's own mammoth cock up by releasing a statement about using money from the fund to pay off a creditor (Dunfermline). The fund money was to be used solely for the purpose of saving Rangers, not for paying off creditors. I think those running the fund are making a BIG mistake with the Dunfermline cash because a good number of people who've donated want to see the money used solely to help save Rangers if there's an emergency cash flow issue in the near future.

Whilst it appears contradictory to the aims of the RFFF, I support this payment as the reasons and the decision have been clearly stated. With the players having agreed wage cuts, I'm imagining the immediate future of the club is less threatened in respect of us having enough money to keep us going to the end of the season. Then when you add in the sterling work of the Red and Black campagin in ensuring tickets are bought for upcoming games, as well as the legends game on Friday, I'm cautiously optimistic about things.

I love the fact that it's such a big GIRUY to Dundee Utd and I'm pleased that Dunfermline are getting their money, but I really don't think this fund should be used to pay off creditors while we're still in administration. After all, we have quite a few creditors all owed different amounts of money and it's not right to just pick one such as Dunfermline and pay them back from a fund that was set up as an emergency fund to keep our own club alive in the event of the administrators having a cashflow shortfall.
