Liverpool set to miss out on Holmes as Tranmere star eyes Ibrox switch

Tranmere youngster Danny Holmes is set to snub a move to Liverpool after setting his sights on a move to Rangers.

 

The 22-year-old full-back has impressed in 19 outings for the League One side this season, attracting interest from Tranmere's Merseyside neighbours.

 

But Holmes, who spent last season playing non-league football on loan at Fleetwood Town, is ready to move north of the border to Scotland, where he believes his chances of first-team football would be considerably better.

 

SPL champions-elect Celtic are also monitoring the defender, whose hopes of securing a move to Ibrox could be rocked by the current financial crisis gripping the Glasgow giants.

'I have spoken with Danny and he would love to be a Rangers player as he wants to play at the highest level,' his agent Jonathan Hope told talkSPORT.

 

'I have had open talks with Rangers regarding Danny and it was looking positive until the current crisis at Rangers happened. This will soon be resolved.

 

'He will improve the team and itâ??s important to me as his agent to ensure that he goes to the right club.'
