Why the football club I love is in danger of being eaten by Sharks

Recommended Posts

I don't think that the circumstances are comparable, but if someone came in, invested money, and then left the club on a firm financial footing for the support then on the face of it, yes.

But what if they departed with the deeds of Ibrox in their pockets and charging us rent for the privilege of playing there?

I think if the deal was similar to the county one then we would be fine. As it says in OP, the ground is owned by county & rented to Sale Sharks.

Unless ofc a rugby team moved in & offered the administrators a substantial amount of money.. which I doubt will happen in Scotland.

You're barking up the wrong tree there, the ground is no longer owned by Stockport County they're merely tenants the ground is owned by Cheshire Sport a.k.a. Brian Kennedy, Stockport County pay Brian Kennedy for the privilege of playing in (what used to and still should be) their own ground. You really would be happy to see the same arrangement with RFC and Ibrox?

Where did you read that FS?

I'm basing my replies on the OP.

It looks to me as though BK bought Stockport County, invested 4m & agreed a deal with his rugby club, Sale Sharks, so that that the sharks could rent the ground on match days. After which he sold the club to fans for 1 quid.

If it was sinister then with the club being in admin then couldn't BK just offer the administrators money to buy the stadium & essentially evict County?
